His face lacks any scarring, but for those lucky enough to see him without a shirt his stomach and hips are flecked with small, straight scars that circle all the way around him.
◇ Personality - On the surface
His curiosity drives him, he's polite to a fault, and can be flirtatious at times. Though, he can become quite bashful if someone starts off by flirting with him. If you catch him while he is working at Craw Daddies, he is much more likely to be forward.He can also be easily distracted, often getting caught in thought when his favorite topics are brought up in conversation. His Miqo'te features (ears and tail) will quickly reveal his emotions often wiggling when he is filled with joy.

◇ What led up to now?
Valljan Ruu was not raised by a Miqo’te society as most others of his kind, but instead was found by members of a Viera tribe. He had been found on the edges of the Golmore Jungle, assumed to be left behind. His soon-to-be father found him during one of his patrols where he followed the sounds of what he thought was a wounded animal, but it was revealed to be Valljan screaming out due to hunger. He was hesitantly taken back to their village and quickly embraced by Menja who was happy to adopt him as her first child.Menja was later gifted to have multiple children, thus Valljan grew up as the eldest son who assisted his mother with his 4 sisters and 1 brother. His siblings quickly outgrew him, and even reached maturity much faster than he was able to. Menja reassured him plenty of times that his adulthood was coming while he sat and watched his brother take on the role of a protector for their community.Though Valljan loved his family and tribe, he decided to seek out more Miqo’te in order to learn about where he hailed from. Menja begged him not to leave knowing that he would never be allowed to return if he left the forest, but Valljan finally chose for the first time to follow his desires.Now, Valljan roams Eorzea to learn about the varying cultures, but he has also picked up a peak interest in magic along the way. During his travels, he loves to drop in on social parties and citywide events to fuel his social battery. Aside from this, he has a strong relationship with his Free Company and spends his off days reading at their lodge.

⁺✦ Because of his deep love for stories, Valljan is fond of liars as he sees them as a sort of story teller. If you can lie through your teeth and create something he finds interesting, he won't even be upset to find out later that it wasn't true. If he is able to see through the facade, he will continue to play along as long as he stays entertained.⁺✦ Valljan's partner, Jeezerz, is a pirate! Previously, she had been cursed by an enemy to stay on the sea with very few chances to be on land. This put a heavy strain on her relationship with Vall as they were unable to visit each other often. However, her curse has been broken and she is now able to move more freely on her missions, and frequent her lover's home as often as she pleases.⁺✦His best friend, Ryathei Aurion, is someone he relies on and trusts. They had a strange encounter that spiraled into their friendship which is ever-growing. Along with his partner, this is someone that Vall is very protective over.⁺✦ Though Valljan is very interested in magic and tries his best to learn about it, he is still somewhat green to otherworldly or void related topics. He has been doing research through his books and has built up a bit of courage to interact with those who are voidsent. Thanks to his ability to pull aether from himself, he may even have a nice snack for them... in exchange for more information.⁺✦ The scars that adorn him like a belt are from a run in with a beast that he now knows was from the void. It had attempted to eat him from the waist down, resulting in a ring of scars left by razor sharp teeth around his middle. If you ever happen to ask about his scars, this will be his own opportunity to divulge in storytelling. (What Vall doesn't know is that voidsent are responsible for his parents' deaths due to his family line having something alluring to them about their aether. If you're a voidsent and spend time around Vall... you may catch yourself feeling a little hungry!)⁺✦ He puts a lot of his own wants to the side in order to please those that matter most to him. He is often being called a "people pleaser" by those that know him best. Some of his closest friends will catch him doing so, and will quickly put an end to it before Valljan makes himself miserable. This results in him pouting from extreme embarrassment.⁺✦ He is very obedient for people he likes. The more interested he is, the more likely he is to be at your beck and call. He loves to spoil people with favors, but do not be afraid to decline him if need be. His ego may be bruised, or he may apologize for being pushy, but he will get over it in the end.
